What They Say

"We have some families that are four generations of friendship."

Stacey Stover

Student Exchange Coordinator

"Culturally realizing that people on the other side of the earth are more similar to us than different, with the hope that it increases all the students' perspectives in the world and that foundation of friendship, getting along and peace."

Stacey Stover

Student Exchange Coordinator

"The main thing they get is a whole other family, who has a teenage brother or sister there, roughly their same age. Pretty much every day the group of all the teenagers gather together and have a cultural experience."

On what students gain

"These lifelong friendships since the call has also become multi-generational."

Robin Snider

President, Medford Sister City Association

"Many lifelong relationships have been created through various exchanges of the business community, city leaders, citizens and students. The bond between the citizens of our two cities remains strong."

Randy Sparacino

Medford Mayor

Multi-Generational Connections

One of the most remarkable aspects of the Medford Alba exchange is how friendships span generations. Some families have been connected for over 40 years.

In 2024, Reid Shipley and Francesco Mascialino reunited, meeting again 10 years after their 2014 exchange. Stories like theirs are common in our alumni community.
